This is your favorite neighborhood Bass Player coming back with our weekly blog format! BUT..... we're gonna try something different. instead of posting a written blog, I will be posting video blogs as making videos is a hobby of mine. The link for the first one down below! We hope you enjoy and see everyone at W.O. Wrights next Saturday, June 22nd at 9:00 P.M.
Hey, everyone, this is your resident bass player Jelani coming back to ya! Man the band has been busy with all types of new developments. First, we will be having our debut show at Jimmie’s ladder 11 this upcoming Friday at 10 P.M. It’s gonna be a "party" of a time and those who know me well will know I ALWAYS bring the party to the stage. Make sure to come out, bring a friend and have a fun night with The Johnson Treatment.
Second and I guess I’ll be the one to spoil the surprise…… WE ARE FINALLY WORKING ON OUR FIRST CD!!! We’re right in the middle of the song selection process and let me tell you it's difficult to choose what songs to add to the album when we have SOOOO many songs that are worthy to share. We are also working on some new video ideas to show off our versatility as musicians. Overall, we are super excited about the upcoming media(CD and videos) Journey and we look forward to sharing this all of this with you all.
As for me, I’ve just been staying busy teaching music, singing with Phonic Uproar (we have our own exciting news that will be shared on Phonic Uproar's website) and finishing my own recording project with my family (dad and cousin). I am excited to share this new music with everyone because I feel this is some of my best work. I was sad to hear and see that the Dayton City Paper published its last issue last week. I've followed this paper for years throughout all of my music projects. It always kept me informed of what was going on in town and it was the first paper to write on us. DAYTON CITY PAPER.... YOU WILL BE MISSED!!! Outside of that, I’m just enjoying being at home with my family playing Madden 19 and Spider-Man for PS4.
In closing, we are excited for what the future holds for the band and we look forward to sharing the process and journey with all of you. WE HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THIS FRIDAY AT JIMMIE’S LADDER 11!!
Hey beautiful people! Hope ya’ll had a nice and restful Labor Day. And if it more stress than rest, I hope you get some time for relaxation in the near future. I cannot emphasize enough how important setting some time aside for yourself can be. We all need to take in a little moment of peace, for the sake of our own sanity. It doesn’t even have to be an entire day, but just finding half an hour, or even ten minutes, to just clear your mind and meditate can go a long way. Just make sure you make time for yourself every now and then, okay friends?
On a lighter note, hope you had a great time at Tumbleweed last Friday. I know the band did. The energy there is always so good, everyone is so live, the sangrias are so delicious. So shout out to everyone who made it out. We drank, we sang, we danced, it was pretty awesome. And you are all pretty awesome. And if you didn’t get a chance to see us, SHAME ON YOU. Just kidding...kind of. Seriously though, the invitation is always there. Check out our calendar, come on out and have some fun with us. The Johnson Treatment is all about the good music, good vibes, and good times. And the perfect opportunity is coming up this TOMORROW (September 7th). We will be at the Blue Note in Miamisburg, doing our thing, and we want to see you there.
Challenge for you! I’m so curious to know what other music you’d like to hear from us, so if you’re reading this, go ahead and leave a comment, write a post, send a message (whatever you like) and tell us what song has been in your head this week. Ready? Go! And we’ll see you when we see you.
Hi folks, it’s Evan, your friendly neighborhood Johnson Treatment guitar player, here to give you the 411 on the latest Johnson Treatment news. We had a great weekend, pulling double duty with shows on both Friday and Saturday night. Friday’s show was at the Blue Note Bistro in Miamisburg, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to play, especially since they extended the stage and the dance floor. Now both the bar patrons and the JT can get down with as much gusto as we want!
Saturday we played at Arlin’s Bar and Restaurant in Cincinnati, which made me a bit nostalgic because it was one of my favorite places when I was at UC. The patio was rockin’, and we had a great time interacting with the crowd and all around having a funky good time.
Our next show is on the 31 st of August, at the Tumbleweed Connection. Since we have the weekend off, I think I’ll do a little songwriting. Keep your ears open for some new Johnson Treatment originals coming at you soon.
Hey, everyone, this is Jelani Stokes the Bass player of the Johnson Treatment and I want to say that last Saturday night was sooooo much fun!! The band enjoyed playing for all of the wonderful people who came out to Peaches Bar and Grill! One of the highlights of the night was having a special guest singer sharing the tail end of Sam Smith hit " I'm Not The Only One." (P.S. if you reading this blog passage, please leave us a message so we can stay in contact!!) It was awesome finding out there were some REAL talented members in the audience enjoying our music.
We also have to give a shout out to the wedding party that decided to join us towards the end of the night, not only did you guys have fun, but I think we have even more fun. As much fun as I had, it was still rough getting home at 3:00 A.M. then getting back up at 9 A.M. to watch my son and start my BBQ. But as my dad would always say, "That's Rock n' Roll!"
We do have this upcoming week off so I am using this week to gear up for my music students and work on new music. We will be back next weekend starting with The Blue Note Bistro And Lounge in Miamisburg. More details to come! Well, this is Jelani Stokes signing off until NEXT TIME!!!!
